The Maralunga or “All-time favorite” in Italian is a beautiful example of Italian design with a story to match. Conceived by Vico Magistretti in 1974. Unsatisfied with the comfort level of the original design, Cassina head Caesare Cassina banged his fist on the prototype, breaking the back of the frame in the process. This ended up producing the iconic look and design for the foldable backrests.
